VISIT BY THE CHINESE PEOPLE’S LIBERATION ARMY NAVY (PLAN) TO THE SA NAVY

ARRIVAL

The Commander of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN), Admiral Wu Shengli together with his delegation will visit Simonstown on an invitation from the SA Navy from 16-20 May 2016.

His visit will cooincide with a visit by the 22nd Escort Task Group 576 to Simons Town which comprises of a Destroyer QINGDAO (Hull no 113), Frigate DAQING (Hull no 576) and a Replenishment Ship TAIHU (Hull no 889). The three ships are scheduled to arrive on Monday 16 May 2016 at 08:00. The welcoming ceremony will commence at 10:00 and as part of the ceremony, there will be a Dragon display.

Media are invited to witness the arrival and welcoming ceremony of The Chinese Pleople’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN). Confirmation of attendance deadline: Sunday, 15 May at 12h00.

SHIP TOUR

The visiting Chinese vessels will be open to the public on 18 May from 0900 to 1100. Shuttle buses will be availible to transport visitors to the ship from Cole Point Gate (at the circle). No pedestrian access will be permitted.
